Mary Ann and I were making plans to go to Orlando for the tournament. We were only going for 3 days (2 nights) so we decided to splurge and stay at the tournament site. It was being held at the Buena Vista Resort and Spa. I looked it up on the Internet and booked a room with one bedroom, kitchen and living room with balcony.

I got out my trusty GPS and we headed to Orlando. The place was very nice. We couldn't check in until 3:00 and the man at the desk asked if we had any preference of where we wanted to stay. Mary Ann said it would be nice if we were near the bridge tournament. He looked at us and never changed the expression on his face as he checked the computer.

Finally he said you will be in the building we were in and we thanked him. Mary Ann looked around and asked where the tournament was and again never changing the expression on his face, he said , “About 5 miles down the road“.

We were both very surprised and I said that I thought it was here and repeated the name of the site. He then informed us that we were at the Buena Vista Resort, Village and Spa (one word different) and of course we could not cancel our reservations at that time. We left and went to the tournament and I apologized over and over to Mary Ann for paying that much and not being at the site.

We got there and Whit and his mother were raving about how nice their room was at the hotel. I just sat with my head down--we hadn't even seen ours yet. We left around 10:45 to go back to our room. We checked in and went upstairs. The room had, as advertised, a kitchen (with stainless steel appliances), a very nice dining area, a living room with a nice couch, 2 leather chairs and a flat screen t.v. I went into a beautiful bedroom with a Jacuzzi, shower, two sinks, a flat screen t.v and a king size bed. Mary Ann said she was very happy to have the couch.

I went over to the kitchen and when I looked to the right I found a second bathroom and a second bedroom with 2 double beds, flat screen t.v. And all the other amenities. The place was fantastic and I stopped apologizing to Mary Ann.

In Daytona we thought we lost a bedroom and bathroom and here we gained both. Note: This time we did not go down and complain that we had extra rooms.

The next morning we left for the tournament and left all three keys on the kitchen counter. We told the man at the desk that we left them on the counter and he said that was okay we could just leave them there. I explained that we couldn't get back in without one. He looked at us strangely and gave us a new one. I am beginning to feel like we have a cloud over our heads when we deal with desk people at hotels.

Very cute, Sue. Could have called me to fill that extra space. I would have helped you keep up with the keys.
Whit, don't you have a story about your accommodations and necessary "travels" through the hotel to get from place to place? Care to share?
