Several large websites are protesting two bills making their way though Congress, by showing their home page in black, or by becoming unavailable. These bills deserve our attention. The bills are unlikely to affect The Daily Recap or you directly, but their passage will affect many sites and services you use.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has a summary of the bills' negative effects here: link. Of course, you can find many other explanations all over the web.

There is an increasing number of Apple and Android users of our site. For their machines to be useful for Results, it is necessary that you produce your reports for uploading in HTML format.
To do this, using ACBLscore's report function, select "HTML file" in the first little window that opens. (It allows for "Screen," "Printer," "Text file," and "HTML file.")
Then, when you upload to the site, select that file (ending in ".html") to upload. (A ".txt" file will not exist for that game.)
This is the same procedure most of you use when running a multi-section game because it produces a multi-section report in one step.

You may have heard that Sony's Play Station website was "hacked" recently and that passwords, among other things, had been revealed. Even credit card information may have been compromised. Apparently, Sony kept this information "in the clear" rather than encrypted. This is unpardonable, if true. For your information, The Daily Recap's passwords are encrpyted, and nobody, not even me, can read them. And we deliberately don't carry any real private information, such as street address, at all. We carry phone number, but it's at your option to provide it. To change your password, or to remove any personal information, except your name, click on Edit My Profile which appears under your picture when you log in. |

There is a Partnership Desk on the Daily Recap. In the top Menu (the green bar), there is an item labeled Partners. Hover your mouse over it, and slide down a bit to Partner Desk, and click. |

The Server agreement for The Daily Recap was renewed today for another year. We are approaching the 2-year anniversary of it's deployment, and have had 227,718 visits. That's about 312 visits per day, 365 days per year. FYI, the cost for the Server has been about $0.0007 per visit. No charge for the labor that the various contributors have spent in providing the content. Next time you can spare it, donate a penny, to cover 15 visits. If you don't, we may have to mail you a statement (with a postage paid envelope) to cover it.

Some of you may wonder why I bother to require usernames and passwords. In the last month or so, there have been four [five as of 7/7/09] attempts to break into The Daily Recap.
Any time the user can enter text in the site, the potential exists that malicious users can enter special text that can circumvent the built-in protection against it. By restricting the entry of comments to registered users, who we trust, that route of trouble-making is blocked.
The comment system is perhaps the most vulnerable software. |

Provision has been made in the latest BridgePad software to report the additional information about boards that it collects. Formerly, there was a paper report that we could have used, but it was not suitable for uploading to The Daily Recap. Now, they have a method of producing a report that is suitable.
The Daily Recap has been modified to carry these reports. Look for them after games that use BridgePads. Soon, I will inform Directors how to obtain the report, and how to upload it to the site.

I have installed a new Comment System and removed the old one. The new one has some nice features and is fully supported, including the new version of the web-site operating system, which we must upgrade to sooner or later. You can now edit your own comments or delete them. |
