Yesterday, I was introduced to a musical group, Pink Martini, by the CBS Sunday Morning show. The group has been around for many years, and is made up of a few Americans who sing and play in a style reminiscent of the 50's - the songs have a melody, the lyrics are crisp and clear. I would have said the lyrics are understandable, except the group often sings in a foreign language -- CBS Sunday Morning said they sing in 15 langauges. I've heard English, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Russion, Yiddish and more -- it's amazing how entertaining they are even when you don't understand a word. Nevertheless, the music is lovely and easy to listen to. I highly recommend it. To get a taste, here is a youtube link to a nice song of theirs: Sympathique. Several other songs of theirs are also on youtube. By the way, CBS Sunday Morning is one of my favorite shows on TV -- it's a "news magazine" kind of thing which is very "civilized." I recommend it as well -- it's on at 9am on Sundays.
