The NCBC members approved a new set of bylaws on February 14. These new bylaws call for all seven directors to be elected at the end of March to take office immediately thereafter. Annually, the seven directors will meet and select a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer from among themselves.
Three of the newly elected board members will serve 1-year terms, and the other four will serve 2-year terms. The directors this year will decide among themselves who will serve for 1 year and who willl serve for 2. If there is a problem this year, the directors receiving the most votes will be given their choice. In subsequent years, either three or four board members will be elected alternately, each for 2 years.
The bylaws are posted at this link, for logged in members only.
Paul Lauer has been named chair of the nominating committee. If you are interested in becoming a member of NCBC governing board or know of any one who is, please contact Paul at 352-683-6446.

A special meeting of the full membership of NCBC was held on 2/3/12 to vote on new bylaws proposed by the Board. Annabelle Hills called the meeting to order at 12:-02 pm, then turned the meeting over to Jerry Lebo, Chairman of the Bylaws Committee. Jerry invited questions and comments from the floor.
After a brief question period, ballots were distributed, collected and tabulated. The proposed bylaws were approved by a margin of 64 to 14 – which included 32 proxy votes cast earlier in the week by players who were unable to attend the Friday meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 12:20.
The bylaws are now published on The Daily Recap, for logged in users only, under Games / Club Info, where you can also find a list of the most significant changes.

Our bridge club is a non-profit organization owned by its members. The success of the club depends on the efforts of the officers, board of directors and players. NCBC tries to provide its members with a comfortable place to play, good directors, a good atmosphere and delicious refreshments, as well as additional points (extra cost to the club) all for the low price of $5.00 per player. Our officers put in efforts way above the duties called for by their positions to make this happen. |

NCBC uses self seating for all normal games. Stratified games are required by the ACBL to be "balanced." This means approximately the same number of pairs in each stratification must sit N-S as E-W, and, when multiple sections are used, approximately the same number of pairs in each stratification must sit in each section. All players are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes early to allow time to make the final seating arrangements. |

Zero Tolerance Policies
Adopted by the Board
November 16, 2009
The NCBC Board of Directors has adopted zero tolerance policies for every game director. These penalties were discussed by the board on November 16th and are effective immediately.
A player who disagrees with a director should ask for an appeal meeting immediately following the game and resume play.
