WOW!

That’s the only word that seems appropriate for the path that Adam Kaplan is traveling on in the bridge world. From a mop-headed 7-year-old who didn’t lead his partner’s suit to a robust 14-year-old, Adam now cavorts with the likes of Meckstroth, Rodwell, and Schulte.

In the August issue of the Bridge Bulletin, Adam and his partner (18-year-old Adam Grossack) competed in the “Bidding Box” segment. This feature highlights the difference in bidding systems by two pairs. Adam K&G use modified Precision and easily bested their rivals 42-28 in the match to reach the best contact in 8 problems.

Adam also attended the 2010 Summer NABC in New Orleans and racked up 101.56 MP’s. Not bad for a 10-day stint in the Big Easy. Adam’s total was better than a bunch of Florida’s top players, including Gavin Wolpert, Jim Mahaffey, and Dennis McGarry.

Adam K&G are slated to play in the Fairfield, NJ Regional (August 9-15) and it’s possible their partners will include Mel Colchamiro - yes that Mel Colchamiro. Adam, you’ve come a long way, baby.

Sincerely, Jim Somma
