Last Friday, Doug Macdaid presented a slate of candidates for officers to be voted on at the club's annual election the week of March 22nd through March 26th. Doug asked for nominations from the floor and none being received, he closed the nominations. After hearing suggestions from several members President Beverly opted to reopen nominations from the floor, giving members more time to put other names into nomination. All offices are open as far as nominations from the floor are concerned. |

Bridge Basics III is the final bridge course being
offered this semester; it is the natural progression to Bridge Basics II. It will
cover in depth Stayman and Jacoby transfers. In addition it will
cover all phases of strong two club bidding (suited and no-trump) and
basic slam bidding, including basic Blackwood and Gerber auctions.
This is the final piece of the bidding puzzle that all our developing students
need. The course is a 4-week study course + a 2 week play course. It will begin
Monday, March 29th and will complete May 3rd. This is one
week later than originally planned, allowing our current students a “breather.”
Bridge Basics III will be taught by Carol Hargrave and Jim Somma.
Please give your checks to Carol or
Jim, made out to NCBC.
The class was originally listed for $72. We are offering a
“thank you discount” to all of you for supporting our NCBC classes this fall and
spring. The price for all students is $60 for this course, including the book.
It’s a great bargain! Please enroll before the March 15th book order.
If you have any questions, please call Carol 200-7578.

At the Wednesday morning student game, Paula Storch and Joe Kuzneski scored an impressive 79.45%! Great job and a big thrill for the bridge teachers!
Students are allowed to ask questions of Marion or me if they are uncertain about what to bid or how to play. For the most part, though, Paula and Joe played very independently. They can take all the credit for their big game.

Nomination of officers for NCBC is underway, with elections taking place the last week in March. Of the present officers and directors, Beverly Tillberry has agreed to run for President; Lois Fortunato has declined to run for Vice President; Annabelle Hills has agreed to run for Treasurer; Mary Ellen Vanzler has declined to run for Secretary; Carol Hargrave, Mary Ann Dufresne and Jim Logan have all agreed to run for the three director spots.
Mary Ellen was appointed to chair the nominating committee. That committee is nominating Carl McGiffin and Richard Talbott as candidates to fill the Vice President position and Jim Somma and Phyllis Tryon as candidates to fill the Secretary position. Nomination from the floor will be made at the Friday, February 26, game. Please feel free to submit any names of persons you feel would do a good job on the board. Forty one of our players answered our request to join the Senion Citizens Club. Many players have asked if they can join even though they don't live in Hernando County. The answer to that is "Yes, please do." And to those of you still planning to join, the membership term is one year, from January to January but we'll accept your membership application whenever you're ready.
