Yesterday, Lois Fotunato and Sue Graham and I had a meeting with Mike Scalia regarding some concerns:

On all Fridays we will have to dismantle the coffee and water station.  Reason:  He has other functions on the weekend and doesn't want the stations left in view.

We cannot have anything left on tables, sink, etc, other than card tables and bidding boxes on the playing site. ( I have made ample space for us to stack the items on the director's table and supply table, on the shelves in storage room.)  We will need volunteers on Friday to assist the director.

No cars are to be parked other than in designated spots.  Lanes need to be left open for fire trucks and ambulances.  (I know this might be a hardship for some of our players.)

I have put the extra card tables and a few other things in the warehouse.  These items are as safe as being left in the banquet area, in my opinion.

Our players have become somewhat thoughtless in not cleaning up around their tables before departing.

It is a health law, that in a public place we cannot have any visible cloth cleaning rags.

Mike will eventually have a soap and paper towel dispenser in sink area. Nothing is to be left under the sink as eventually they will be installing tanks for drinks.

Mike was extremely friendly in his presentation and I think it behooves us to do our utmost to make sure we comply with his requests.

You probably know that poor Dixie has been fighting serious health problems for years.  On Friday she was hospitalized with infections in both of the ports used for her blood transfusions.  She's not sure when she'll be released so I'm sure she'd appreciate your cards and letters to:  11411 Heritage Point Drive, Hudson FL 34667.

Betty Ost reports that Judy's status is very serious--still touch and go.  She's feeling pretty depressed to say the least.  Betty thinks that your cards and letter would give her a much-needed boost.  She's at Mayo so in very good hands.

I spoke to Charlie White on Wednesday and he asked me send you a huge thanks for all the cards and phone calls.  They really meant a lot to him.

His recovery continues to be slow.  His hip is doing fine and the infection he contracted seems to be under control.  Unfortunately, the swelling in his legs hasn't receded so he's spending a lot of time in bed with elevated legs.  Still, he's looking forward to seeing us again soon!
