We just learned that Janet Mullen lost her husband, Jay, on New Year's Eve, after a relatively short bout of cancer.
I had the privilege of meeting Jay, at a 2-table bridge session in their home. This could not have been over 6 weeks ago. We were playing and practicing what we were taught in one of our 299er lessons at the Club.

 Social Duplicate Game Launched |

Three club members, Beverly Tillberry, Annabelle Hills, and Gerry Panos, have launched an effort to start a Social Duplicate Bridge Game on Thursday afternoons. No start date was specified, but an open letter has been sent to NCBC members for posting in their communities or forwarding to their non-member friends.
The letter is directed at bridge players or would-be bridge players who desire a non-competitive but supervised duplicate bridge environment. Lessons will be offered before the game. A charge of $3 will be made to play, and a separate $3 will be charged per lesson.
The game will be sanctioned by the ACBL and masterpoints will be awarded. However, players with more than 20 masterpoints may not play.

I am very sorry to tell you that Shirley passed away this evening. She spent her final moments at Hospice in Lecanto. Thank you for all of your prayers and kind thoughts. We took all of your cards to the hospital and read them to her; they brightened her spirits.
