This was board 3 of the STaC game on Friday.
Winning the finesse with the D Q, Anne then played a low spade from dummy. East played the Q, and Anne won the A, and played a low spade from her hand and finessed the T. She then played the S K, drawing the missing J. The rest of the hand was routine, losing the two aces, making 5 spades for 11+ match points out of 12. Apparently, most players followed the old saying "8 ever, 9 never" or played low to the K first. The Law of Restricted Choice applied here. In a situation like this, where you are missing 4 trump to the QJ, and an opponent plays either the Q or the J on the first trick, the odds are 75% that it is singleton, and so the finesse (as Anne did) was marked to pick up the other honor.
