We just learned that Janet Mullen lost her husband, Jay, on New Year's Eve, after a relatively short bout of cancer.
I had the privilege of meeting Jay, at a 2-table bridge session in their home. This could not have been over 6 weeks ago. We were playing and practicing what we were taught in one of our 299er lessons at the Club.
Jay was such a friendly and a happy guy. He was concerned because he lost some of his hair from chemo. However, he still had plenty of reddish colored hair. We laughed, and I told him his new hair would come in brighter red and thick and curly just like my 18 old cancer patient nephew's did!! Jay said he hoped so. He was such a young man and still a had a vision for the future for him and Janet.
I guess what I am trying to say to everyone is that life is too short to worry about the small stuff--including Wednesday games, master points, etc. Where is that going to get anyone without your life?!
Services will be this Saturday. Details will follow when I know them. We love you Janet, and you have our deepest sympathy.
