Welcome back everyone and welcome to our new members! Good to see many of you back. Still looking for others to arrive after the first. We have been having 8-8 1/2 tables on many of our Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Good turn outs, fun games, and great lessons continue to take place at NCBC. Come join us!! Food is being served again. So if you would like snacks during the afternoons, be sure to sign up at the sign-up desk. Speaking of signups, please note the following dates on your busy calendars for the next month or two. Sheets are out for some of them. Check the desk. December 7: Notrump Slam Opportunites, Mentoring Game When partner opens one notrump you’re already half way to slam. Are you getting to all your possible slams? How effectively are you handling those shapely responder hands that have good slam potential? Be sure to come to our mentoring game for lots of good tips. We’ll have mini-lessons on Texas transfers – a great trick for responders with a long major – and on using Gerber vs. Blackwood to ask for aces. There’ll be lots of big hands with possible slams. Come see if you can find them. Marion and Mary Ann will lead, 9:30 to 11:30, at the bargain price of $5.
December 9, (Friday) Club Christmas Party Club provides sandwiches, beverages, music and door prizes. You provide the pot luck feast. Spouses welcome December 12-16: STaC Games, Silver points December 28: Combined games January 10: Tuesday mentoring game. Unusual Notrump Convention — With 5-5 Come Alive. Christie will present another trick for getting into the auction with a 5-5, come alive hand. She will be reviewing Michaels Cue Bids at the same time, since Michaels and Unusual NT go hand in hand. January 11-February 15, 9:30-11:30: Pat Foster and Carol Hargrave will be teaching Two Over One. Cost $55 + $13 for the book. A big thank you for remembering to turn over one card in each board at the end of the day — and for returning the boards, table cards, and bridge pads to the desk; emptying your trash and pushing in your chairs. This makes it much nicer for the next Director as well as the next group of players coming in. Have a nice month, keep well and I will see you at the Club.
