Arriving at the playing area at the Danbury, CN Regional, I made a note to be very careful about entering the room as the "wall " was made up of several glass partitions which all looked alike, including the entry door.  The usual hospitality break was announced after the first three rounds.  I left the room late, (we were following a very slow pair) and got to the ladies room to find a long line.  There was nothing for me to do but wait in line.

I knew I was very late and was hustling to get back to our table.  I mean really hustling.  All of a sudden there was a major crash. The bang was as loud as an explosion!

The entire room stopped what they were doing, and looked to see what had happened.  Turns out I had hustled right into a glass panel, and conked my noggin.

Gathering all the dignity I could manage, I calmly walked to the door, went to my table and resumed playing bridge.

scannedimage.jpg The game director immediately put large X's of masking tape on each of the fixed panels preventing anyone else from having my experience.  Surely my accident saved many people's lives that day.  My friend Gerry wanted a memento of the occasion, and took this dramatic recreation.

I was sitting at the far end of the large room, and I swear it sounded like a sonic boom!

Now I know what those hapless birds that fly into "clean" windows feel like!
