In anticipating the changes in procedures that will be necessary in our new quarters, some "player effects" came to mind. No longer will we have to hurry away after a game -- we can sit and socialize, discuss hands, or just wait for results. No more standing around, shuffling back and forth, with no place to relax. This should result in a more convivial and quiet atmosphere at the end of games. But besides merely sitting around, we need to pick up after ourselves. We seem to generate bits of paper, food (cake is especially bad), and trash all over the place that we must clean up. Nobody like Carl or Doug is going to do it for us. My suggestion is that we fold up the bidding boxes, but replace them onto their "arms" instead of putting them away. This is to avoid walkers bumping them and spilling the cards all over the place. We should take the boards and table cards to the director's station. The boards are expensive and we don't want them getting misplaced or misused. The tables cards will change from game to game, so they have to be re-established anyway. If there are spare pick-up slips or other forms layng around, they should be saved. When we leave the table for the day, or even for a few minutes, we should get into the habit of pushing the chairs in neatly. We want to keep the place looking neat and tidy. The Director will have enough to do without straightening up a hundred chairs, and cleaning bits of food. Spills should be wiped up immediately, of course: we don't want the floor to get dirty and stained. The refreshment area will need to be cleaned up. You are free to wash your own dish, and dispose of your left-overs. Coffee-pots and the like will need to be put away, but since the storage space will most likely be "organized," this is best left to the director, or someone who really knows where everything goes. Otherwise, stuff will misplaced and scattered all over the place.
